review for the movie Groundhogs day
This post is obviously in regards to the very famous movie starring Bill Murray, Groundhogs day. I know it's only stupid of me to mention, but for those who don't know, Groundhogs day is a 1993 film about a weatherman who experiences the same day over and over again, which is his most hated holiday Groundhogs day.
To most people they would catagorise it as a comedy and thats all. For me it was so much more then a comedy, it was tragic. I found the movie sad because of the stress and frustration this man had to go through reliving the same day again and again. It becomes so stressful that the man continuesly tries to comit suicide to try and move on to something new. No matter what this character does, he will always be reliving Febuary 2nd, in Punxitony.
Another thing I loved about the movie was it's ability to touch on romance, comedy, and tragity all at the same time. It was extremely romantic, showing viewers that love isn't just a one night stand. Love is getting to know a person and warming up to them. And as for comedy, it's a knee slapper.
But the overall idea of the movie is what gets me and many other viewers. Nobody, (Not even Phil) can predict why this event keeps occuring. Why he keeps reliving the same day over and over again. But, as we see in the begining of the film, Phil is quite ego sentric. He appears to be very self centered with high standards. He sees himself, and I quote, as the talent. But once he relives Febuary 2nd a couple of times he becomes careless and lives each day without the consiquences. He lives for fun and thats about it. After the love of his life Rita turns him down time after time, he gets anxious and decides to end life short. He tries to kill himself to break this curse, but of course Phil has a lesson to learn. And he decides to do something with his life, going around performing good citizen tasks. And for once he witnessess a death and time and again he tries to prevent it. In the end Phil becomes a great guy and gets the woman he wants. But that idea of change really hits home for me, because at first we watch the movie to see what it would be like to re live the same day again and again, but theres so much more to it.
I cant even begin to describe to the readers how stressfull it was to hear I got you babe every time that clock struck 6:00. It was really suspenseful and hilarious along with many other great sesations you get when watching Billy Murray at his finest.
I dont have to tell you all to watch it, as I know most of you, if not all have already seen it. Groundhogs day is just something everyone has seen and loved, and like everyone else I have adored it and now own it. :)

First Post
This is my first post... just getting used to the whole blogging thing..... But I can't wait to share views on certain movies shows, and to share with everyone old photos of anything retro.
